The Mazziotti, barons of Celso, were a noble Cilento family, also resident in Naples and known for their political commitment against Bourbon absolutism. Their monumental residence dominates the village of Celso, a hilly hamlet of Pollica.
The building originates in the 15th century, with transformations completed by the end of the 18th century. The main entrance stands out for its twelve balconies, topped by alternating curved and triangular pediments, the numerous loopholes and two watchtowers that frame its front.
Inside it preserves frescoes by the painter Matteo Cilento and is flanked by a chapel dedicated to San Nicola that houses an icon of the Madonna of Constantinople. In 2010 the palace was chosen as the set of "We Believed" by Mario Martone, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
